The Purple hoses are the vents to the top of the diaphragm.
These must be vented. It's also important that the filter
you use flow enough air. If it doesn't, it'll do weird things
to your jetting. You'll get surging, hesitation, and it'll run
really rich. bad bad bad.
The green hoses are the carb float bowl vents, and they should be
kept open. They don't need to be filtered. There's a service bullitin
to cut off 3" inches from the end of the hose. Doing so fixes the
2 O'Clock cross-wind stumble/stall problem.
