Subject: Thoughts on waking up I had a longer than usual argument with my alarm clock this morning. This led me to thinking.... Alarm clocks have always been a negative force in my life. Even the name, 'alarm'. Here's what the American Heritage Dictionary says: ALARM 1. A sudden feeling of fear. 2. A warning of danger. 3. A device that sends a warning. 4. The sounding mechanism of a clock. 5. A call to arms. So basically I wake up every morning to a sense of danger or impending doom. No wonder I'm so tired. Obviously, the solution is to call it something different! Hmmm... a "rise-and-shiner" clock? naw... to syrupy. a "good morning clock". No, too sensitive new-aged. Maybe a "personal morning reminder"? Oh well, I don't know. If I was more awake, I'd think of something, market it, make millions, and retire before I'm 30. Maybe tomorrow. If I wake up. -ras
