This years rally was held at the Santa Margarita Lake KOA in San Luis Obispo county.  Fellow lister Rod Holland had the great idea of pairing this rears rally with a track day at Buttonwillow Raceway.  The track day was held on July 4th and the rally followed on Sat. and Sun.  There was a good response to the rally and as many as 30+ showed interest and began making plans to attend.  Unfortunately powers beyond their control forced many to back out.  We still had a good turnout with just over 20.  The best part was that only four of us that had attended last years rally were at this years rally!  This meant many new faces and we had a great time getting to know everyone.  The final count was:

Rick Holtzman, Kenzo Baxter, Bernie and Linda Ayling, John and Hope Ruiz, Warren Oshita and Laura, Thom Jackson and Susie, Jay and Rachael Vocair    Mario and Josie, Art Palmer, Yong Joo, Mike Kubar, Dave from LA, Dylan (Warren's friend), Mike Slater, and Rod Holland.

All tolled:  21 people.

Saturday I, the "Rally Master", was the last person up at 10:30.  After herding cats for an hour I finally succeeded in getting a group photo, less SOs.  I don't know why none of the SOs thought they should be in the shot.  Oh well.  We finally got everyone geared up and headed out at about noon.  After we lost a couple people in the first few miles we got on a roll and John Ruiz and his wife Hope led us on a wonderful ride through the costal mountains.  That night we scarfed Scummies and beer and our laughter boomed through the night.  Ah, good times.

Warren Oshita (hiding behind his bike), Mike Kubar, Jay Vocair, Rick Holtzman, John Ruiz, Yong Joo, Rod Holland, Kenzo Baxter, Dave (Rick's friend from LA), and down in front is Thom Jackson. Art Palmer, Bernie Ayling and his wife were there, but didn't make it into the photo. Not everyone who came was in the picture.

Thom, his girlfriend Susie and the pooches.

Warren Oshita and his girlfriend Laura

John Ruiz and Rod Holland.

Unfortunately Rod crashed his race Hawk at Buttonwillow the day before and broke his foot. He STILL hung out for the rally!

John's Bandit 1200

Bernie's very clean Hawk

Bernie's Hawk, again. Check out the modded tail section to fit the rounded tail light. I forgot what the light is off of.

We just couldn't get enough of Bernie's Hawk.

Taking advantage of any shade we could find. Yes, it was HOT.

Our Last Night:  Scummie Fest

"Ah, I'm blind!"

Just look at the size of those babies!  Nice job Thom and Mike Slater.

Mike Slater, who showed up just after we had left for the days ride, proved his scummy making skills that night.

And the Rally Didn't End For Me There

The next day Rick H and his son E.O and friend Robert, Dan Hershberger and his daughter Amy, all went dirt riding.  What a blast!
